Mentor Bank

      Hurting women need the love, prayers, acceptance, support and encouragement of other women who have overcome and survived the devastating experiences that they are facing.  Hurting women need spiritual mentors who have first hand knowledge of the healing, deliverance, strength and restoration that comes from a “one on one” personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Esther’s Urban Missionary Academy is developing, equipping, connecting and mobilizing laywomen for this purpose. 

     Our graduates are asked to volunteer to be available as a mentor in our Mentor Bank.  If agreeable, the graduate submits her written testimony and some pertinent information is gathered and placed in a computer bank.  Each graduate indicates the level of mentoring intervention she is able to provide.  When the Mentor Bank is contacted by a woman in need, an appropriate mentor is selected from the bank based on need and introduced to the mentee.  Initial contacts are made by phone.  The mentor’s intervention is provided at the level she has requested.   All of our graduates are able to participate at some level in the Mentor Bank which increases the chances that we will be able to serve most of the women who call.

 Our Mentor Bank offers four types of intervention. They are listed in the next section.   Any woman who is hurting and desires to be mentored may utilize the Mentor Bank by calling 678.773.2422.   Clergy, family members or friends of women in need are also encouraged to call.  The most effective and beneficial way for us to mentor is through establishing “Pearls” groups.  As soon as possible, we try to guide every woman into an appropriate “Pearls” group for concentrated support, on-going mentoring and fellowship.  The Mentor Bank provides on-going mentoring relationships.  The Mentor Bank does not provide crisis intervention or therapy.  Typical mentorship involves prayer, sharing biblical principles, encouragement, acceptance, unconditional love, support and a safe place to talk.     

Four Types of Intervention

1.  Written testimonies of our graduates are available by e-mail or fax.  Often just reading another woman’s victorious testimony will bring comfort, hope and encouragement to a hurting woman.

2.  Some graduates are available to mentor by phone and/or email. 

3.  Some graduates are available to mentor face to face through weekly or monthly contacts, by phone and by e-mail.

4.  We provide detailed information on all the “Pearls” groups we have established in order to channel each women to a “Pearls” group that meets her specific needs.  The “Pearls” groups are the most effective and beneficial way for us to mentor. (See the Graduate page for details).
